Wisley is the UK's best loved garden with 240 acres offering a fascinating blend of the beautiful with practical and innovative design and cultivation techniques. For many, it is the beauty and tranquillity of the garden that captures the imagination, with its richly planted borders, luscious rose gardens, small lakes and the exotica of the glasshouses, but a closer look reveals the real value of Wisley.
The Royal Horticultural Society was given Wisley in 1903, although at that time much of the garden was wooded farmland. One hundred years on and the land has been transformed into a beautiful ornamental garden, full of wonderful horticultural specimens.
Open: daily, throughout the year
Summer hours (March - October): Monday to Friday - 10:00 to 18:00, Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays - 09:00 to 18:00
Winter hours (November - February) - 10:00 to 16:30

By road: the garden lies between Cobham and Ripley in Surrey, off the main London to Portsmouth road (A3) south of Junction 10 of the M25. Follow the brown tourist flower signs on the A3 and M25 to RHS Garden. Car parking is free

By rail: Waterloo to Portsmouth line
Nearest railway stations: West Byfleet (3 miles / 5 km) or Woking (4 miles / 6 km) and then by taxi
Guildford station (10 miles / 16 km) and then by 515 bus to Kingston stopping at Wisley Gardens
